The GEMA MDC 230 Bundle Module + Heating Cartridge WEHPW2 2.0 kW 230 V combines an Elektromet MDC 230 heating module with a matching 230 V heating cartridge with Wi-Fi control. The bundle is intended for supplementary electrical heating of heating water in central heating systems.
It is suitable for open or closed central heating systems with appropriate safety devices and can be used as supplementary heating, post-heating, frost protection support, or for additional heat input from surplus electricity. Proper hydraulic and electrical integration remains essential.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 230 module forms the water-carrying heating circuit component. It features a steel tank, 50 mm polyurethane foam insulation, a heating circuit connection with female thread G 1 1/4", and a sleeve for the electric heating cartridge with female thread G 1 1/2".
The WEHPW2 heating cartridge provides the electrical heating output of 2.0 kW at 230 V. It has a 1 1/2 inch threaded connection, a length from thread of 363 mm +/- 10 mm, IPX4 enclosure protection, stainless steel construction, and temperature control on the device as well as via the WUG MB app.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle supports existing heating systems with a clearly defined supplementary electrical output and offers convenient temperature control thanks to the Wi-Fi-enabled heating cartridge. Operation can be carried out directly on the device module or via the app.
For operators, the combination of the heating circuit module and the matched heating cartridge is particularly practical because both main components are considered together. This allows output, voltage, connection size, and minimum flow rate to be precisely coordinated.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 230 heating module is integrated into a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. It can supplement existing heat generators such as solid fuel boilers, fireplace systems with a water jacket, gas or oil boilers, and heat pumps.
For operation, a minimum flow rate of 114 l/h must be ensured. For this purpose, an additional circulation pump must be provided, which is connected in parallel to the heating cartridge. In addition, a functioning safety valve with the appropriate opening pressure is required.

Installation
The heating module is integrated into the parallel heating circuit. For the MDC 230, horizontal installation is required unless the original documentation supplied with the unit specifies otherwise. The pipe routing must allow for complete filling and reliable venting.
The heating cartridge is screwed into a suitable 1 1/2 inch socket and installed horizontally with the connection cable pointing downward. Installation, electrical connection, and testing may only be carried out by qualified specialists.
Notes
Operation without water is not permitted. Before switching on the power, the module, heating circuit, and piping must be completely filled and vented. The minimum flow rate must be ensured by means of an additional circulation pump.
A safety valve is required and must not be separated from the heating module by shut-off valves. The housing of the heating cartridge must not be covered or thermally insulated. The product selection does not replace proper system planning, heat load calculation, or electrical sizing.
