Pressure expansion vessels are an important component in every heating, cooling, solar and domestic hot water system.

Application

The pressure expansion vessel is one of the safety components for closed-loop solar systems. Pressure expansion vessels can be used in all types of heating systems (provided this is technically feasible).

Basic properties

  • Compensation for changes in thermal expansion of the solar fluid in solar systems caused by temperature changes.
  • Maintaining the solar fluid pressure of heating systems at a certain level.
  • Possibility of increasing the initial pressure of the vessel by inflating the gas part of the container.
  • The pre-pressure of the vessel can be reduced by means of a valve.

Construction: Solar expansion tank 10 bar  Sunex

Pressure expansion vessels are welded steel vessels whose interior is divided into two parts by an elastic membrane: gas and water. The gas part is equipped with a pressure control valve. The water part is filled with the heat transfer fluid from the solar system.

The correct pressure in the gas system stabilizes the pressure of the entire central heating system (the system changes its volume and maintains a constant pressure). Expansion vessels for solar systems are supplied filled with gas at a specific pressure by default. During installation, the pressure in the gas section must be adjusted to the needs of the heating system. The minimum operating pressure is 0.5 bar.

Pressure expansion vessels can be used in heating systems with an operating temperature of up to 100ºC. Heating systems with expansion vessels must be equipped with a safety valve, thermometer, and pressure gauge.
